Today, I am energized to welcome three key new team members to Extend who will be instrumental in building out the next phase of our growth. These talented individuals, from Amazon, Walmart, and Uber, will help Extend take on the product protection plan risk exposure, and enable us to go live even faster with bespoke, customer focused, extended warranty programs.

When we started Extend we knew that we had to do away with the status quo and rewrite the way extended warranties and protection plans have been merchandised and serviced in the past. From the beginning our goal was to own the full extended warranty stack:

Technology enabled broker: Powers offer presentation, and educates the consumer on the value of the protection plan program. Extend manages this through our Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, SAP Hybris, and other pre-built eCommerce integrations as well as our API’s and offers SDK.

Administrator: The administrator is arguably the most important part of the extended warranty stack due to the fact that this is who designs and delivers the customer claims experience, including customer support and claims adjudication. Extend acquired Aon Warranty Solutions from Aon, Plc last year to form the base of our fully licensed in-house administration platform which delivers the best customer experience in the industry.

Underwriter: Takes on the financial risk for each protection plan sold, and pays for any repairs or replacements due. Extend is building out its own wholly owned captive to enable us to better serve our merchant partners and create customized programs for their end consumers.

Matt Skeffington joins Extend as a Senior Product Manager from Amazon where he focused on global risk management and claims. Matt and his team built Amazon’s captive, and he will be doing the same here at Extend.

Dave Croudace joins Extend as a Senior Program Manager - Warranty Operations from Walmart where he was the Senior Category Manager for Walmart’s warranty and home services division. Dave has significant experience in designing, implementing, and managing extended product protection plan programs at scale.

Ryan McAllister joins Extend as a Lead Actuary from Uber where he served the same role and was responsible for global reserving in their captive. Ryan brings over 14 years experience as an actuary to Extend, and will work closely with the underwriting, data science, and finance organizations.

Adding Matt, Dave, and Ryan to the team moves Extend that much closer to owning the full extended warranty stack, further advancing our business to best serve our merchant partners and consumers alike.

Welcome to the team!
