A major systems integrator approached ExtendMedia to utilize Extend’s software platform in support of a worldwide retailer that wanted to provide an innovative digital download service to accompany physical DVDs (electronic sell-through). A modular, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) built around published web services and open APIs allows the retailer to use the elements they want of OpenCASE, and plug in the pieces being built by the systems integrator at a later date. For example, OpenCASE's flexible subscriber data model will integrate with the retailers' own systems as they come online. As well, all customer facing elements - media player, digital storefront (2' & 10') etc. - can be swapped out to best support the retailers strong brand.
